Brakes: your brakes won’t fail you, even in dangerous and unexpected situations

When a vehicle brakes, the brake pads are pressed against the spinning brake disc. During this process the brakes pads and brake discs are worn down. If the brake pads are completely worn down metal rubs against metal. The heat build-up increases, producing deep scars and cracks on the brake disc, which will reduce your braking performance immediately. 

The wear of your brakes depends a lot on your own driving style. If you’re not in hazard situations, avoid constant and aggressive braking. 

Brake pads and discs are part of the visual point check when you bring in your car for any service and should be checked at least once a year. Should you experience any unusual driving handling, for example vibration and noise during braking, please contact your Volkswagen Partner immediately. 

We inspect and measure the brake pad wear level. If the pads or discs are worn or corroded we will let you know so we can arrange to replace them.
