Volkswagen Middle East partners with STEPPI, a fitness app that rewards individuals for being active. The app allows the user to exchange steps they have earned into discounts at different outlets across Dubai. For the last leg of this year’s 30X30 Fitness Challenge, a 5-kilometre virtual run powered by Volkswagen Middle East took place on Friday 27th November 2020 and brought families together to promote active lifestyle among the local community.
Adhering to the safety protocols on social distancing, the 5 kilometre-virtual run allowed the participants to start from any point in the city whether running, walking, or jogging. After they finished the run, the participants were automatically entered into a raffle draw with a prize of a 2-night stay at Hatta Damani Lodges using the Volkswagen’s 7-seater SUV, The Teramont.
As part of their prize, the winner together with three friends or family members will enjoy seven different activities ranging from zorbing, mountain carting, obstacle challenges at the Hatta Wadi Hub.
“Volkswagen shares the same values with STEPPI in encouraging families to have a more active and healthy lifestyle. We strongly believe in moving people forward as a community, and collectively care about mental and physical health especially during this new and normal way of living. We were excited to see so many families and colleagues from across Dubai take part in the virtual challenge, and we hope this encourages a more healthy lifestyle going forward.” commented Anja Petrovski, Marketing Director, Volkswagen Middle East.
“It was exciting to see the overwhelmingly great turnout from the first Volkswagen Virtual Run with STEPPI. Dubai residents have collectively logged a over 15 million steps from this virtual challenge alone,” co-founder Joe Franklin shared. “We hope this helps build healthy habits for everyone.”
“It really shows that people want to develop and keep an active lifestyle,” co-founder Milos also commented. “Helping them achieve that by providing the right encouragement and incentive is part of what we aim to do.”
